Boiling the water is one of the easiest ways to clean drains in the sink. Boiling water is a great way to break up any blockages that are due to soap residue or grease debris. Examine if your sink houses one, as it could be the problem. Blockages can be cleared by turning on the disposal. Dysfunctional or overheated disposals may not be able to start. If you press the reset button at the bottom of the unit, or along the side, attempt turning the unit back on.
